Alice Smiling

The "grandgirls" couldn't believe it - as hard as they try to get a picture of Alice smiling, this one showed up on Shorti's camera. It was taken by one of Alice's friends when they took her to Starbucks for her birthday! We think you'll agree that it is a DELIGHTFUL picture!

Alice's Mother's Day Lunch!

This afternoon, Alice's granddaughters treated her (and Shorti) to a Mother's Day lunch!

The highlight of lunch was the pink lemonade cupcakes, made in the style of Dewey's Bakery in Winston Salem, NC. They weren't QUITE as good, but close. Alice liked them so much she licked the cupcake liner when she finished - the icing was the best.

Alice got lots of gifts:

Pink chimes

A Jitterbug phone (which is actually in route, so she got a wrapped picture)

A Life is Good MOM t-shirt (also in route, so she opened another wrapped picture)

Bob Barker's Priceless Memories Book, postage stamps with her picture (and some with Shorti and Pat, too)
Cards in a pretty pink suitcase

She also got some pretty cards, even one from Lucy the Dog.

A funny picture of Alice with Mary Pat, Beth and Shorti.

Shorti and Alice, great mothers!

After lunch, granddaughter Beth refilled Alice's bird feeders and trimmed the flowers in her window box. Mary Pat said that Beth was the biggest red-headed woodpecker she'd ever seen.

Once the festivities were over, Alice sat down for a few minutes, but she and Shorti were planning a trip to the grocery store.

Alice the Birthday Girl

Technically, tomorrow is Alice's birthday, but some of her family celebrated with her a day early with a birthday cookout! Here are some of our favorite pictures of the birthday girl.

Alice's Gifts!

It isn't even officially her birthday, but Alice got some great gifts today!

A pink "diamond" from Mary Pat and Beth

A beautiful new lamp from Junior and Janie

Alice and Dave brought a beautiful rose bush. You know how much Alice likes roses!

Patti amd Pam brought beautiful pink flowers in beautiful pink pots.

Junior and Janie also gave her a funny "hillbilly schoolbus," but there were no pictures! Beth and Mary Pat gave her gift one on her celebration, a hummingbird feeder. They will have gifts two and three on Monday and Tuesday. Oh, and even though Baby Jane wasn't there - the pretty light pink necklace Alice was wearing was from her. (The other necklace - the cheap hot pink beads - they were a party favor...)

Alice's Family at the Cookout

Here are most of the folks who were at Alice's pre-birthday cookout!

Mary Pat (granddaughter and Blog editor), Alice, Beth (granddaughter)

The Cousins, also Alice's granddaughters: Patti, Mary Pat, Beth

The grandaughters + Pam, Patti's friend, and CiCi, Patti and Pam's poodle

Another Alice, Alice's friend from Eastminster Presbyterian Church. Alice's husband, Dave, was there, too, but he was at the grill with the steaks. Great job, Dave.

Shorti, Alice's daughter

Pam and Alice

Junior (Alice's brother), Alice, Patti and Janie, Junior's Wife. Janie made and brought a blackberry wine cake that was YUMMY! Thanks, Janie!

Alice's Birthday Cake

Monday is Alice's birthday, but her family had a birthday cookout for her today. I love this series of cake and candles shots! Notice that in the last picture, she is wearing the crown!

Alice's Visitors

Yes, the Blog has been slow, but not Alice! She is finished with home health care and has been released to do anything she wants!

Here are pictures from a recent visit from Joey, Mary Alice, Doe and Raymond.

Most of you probably already know, but Alice's birthday is Monday! We're having a celebration Sunday at lunch - I promise to post photos that night!

Alice and Joey. She was probably thanking him for a job well done as he always does so much to help during his visits.

Raymond, proud to be an American. Nice shot.

Alice and Mary Alice. It almost looks like Alice is smiling!

Alice, Queen of the Porch!

Alice feeding Raymond a strawberry, I think.
