Alice's Starbucks Birthday

This is a late birthday post. The ladies at Eastminister took Alice to Starbucks for her birthday. A whole mess of them. Alice had lots of fun, as you can tell by the smile on her face!

Saturday, Carol Ann Loving and her daughter, Debbie, visited Alice. Alice was very happy to see them! Sunday, Raymond and Joey came, but alas, the paparazzi was taking a Sunday nap!

Alice Rocks the Vote

Tuesday was Election Day in Forest Acres, and you know Alice doesn't miss a chance to vote. It was a "lite" ballot: two incumbents were running unopposed and there was a referendum on Sunday beer and wine sales - less than 300 people voted, but Alice was one of them! Afterwards, it looks like Alice and Beth visited Three Dog Bakery and the Invitation Station.

The "grandgirls" couldn't believe it - as hard as they try to get a picture of Alice smiling, this one showed up on Shorti's camera. It was taken by one of Alice's friends when they took her to Starbucks for her birthday! We think you'll agree that it is a DELIGHTFUL picture!

Alice's Mother's Day Lunch!

This afternoon, Alice's granddaughters treated her (and Shorti) to a Mother's Day lunch!

The highlight of lunch was the pink lemonade cupcakes, made in the style of Dewey's Bakery in Winston Salem, NC. They weren't QUITE as good, but close. Alice liked them so much she licked the cupcake liner when she finished - the icing was the best.

She also got some pretty cards, even one from Lucy the Dog.

After lunch, granddaughter Beth refilled Alice's bird feeders and trimmed the flowers in her window box. Mary Pat said that Beth was the biggest red-headed woodpecker she'd ever seen.


Once the festivities were over, Alice sat down for a few minutes, but she and Shorti were planning a trip to the grocery store.

Alice the Birthday Girl

Technically, tomorrow is Alice's birthday, but some of her family celebrated with her a day early with a birthday cookout! Here are some of our favorite pictures of the birthday girl.

Alice and Dave brought a beautiful rose bush. You know how much Alice likes roses!

Patti amd Pam brought beautiful pink flowers in beautiful pink pots.


Junior and Janie also gave her a funny "hillbilly schoolbus," but there were no pictures! Beth and Mary Pat gave her gift one on her celebration, a hummingbird feeder. They will have gifts two and three on Monday and Tuesday. Oh, and even though Baby Jane wasn't there - the pretty light pink necklace Alice was wearing was from her. (The other necklace - the cheap hot pink beads - they were a party favor...)

Alice's Visitors

Yes, the Blog has been slow, but not Alice! She is finished with home health care and has been released to do anything she wants!
