Alice Goes International

Today, Alice got quite a surprise. She reconnected with Alecia, an old friend who lived in Costa Rica. Actually, she lives in West Virginia now, but was in Costa Rica for many years.

It started out when she received a wrong number from Costa Rica. That reminded of her old friend, and she mentioned her to Debbie/Darlene, Alice's niece. Debbie/Darlene e-mailed Aleisha's son, who got them together on the phone today.

There was a lot going on at the table tonight, so I probably missed something, but it's a neat story that we wanted to share.

Alice Celebrates the Souper Bowl

No, not the Super Bowl, The Souper Bowl of Caring, a national non-profit that utilizes Super Bowl weekend to mobilize youth to fight hunger and poverty in their local communities. Alice getting ready to go - I mean, ready to go. She and Shorti picked up two other women and went out for a night on the town with The Souper Bowl.

This is Alice with Hayes Noble, who used to work with Shorti, and two other people I don't know - and they're all men! Maybe Sister and I should start going out with Gramma!

To close out the night, Charlotte and Alice. Charlotte and Alice are San Jose friends, among other things.

Alice's Flu Shot

Well, here she is AFTER her flu shot! For her NC friends, this is Dr. Word, and even though he is younger than Dr. Collins, he is taking very good care of her.

The girls came over tonight and made Halloween treats. Alice did more watching that making, but she was a big help.

Did you know that Alice was pulling for the Rays? Debbie Darlene - who is from Tampa - sent Alice this t-shirt. Everyone in the family is pulling for the Rays except MP. MP is pulling for Boston because she has a cute pink Boston baseball hat.

Tonight, the girls came over and made Halloween treats with Shorti and Alice. Beth took some pictures of Alice to send to her church in Vass for the directory. These were the best. Help Alice pick a favorite - which one do YOU like best?

Alice's Big Sunday

Today was a big day for Alice! Her brother, Junior, and his wife, Janie, came. Then her daughter, Pat. Then her nephew Joey and his friend, Raymond. Oh, and Bob from Starbucks, who delivered some yummmmmy bread. They stayed through lunch.

For dinner, it was birthday night at the Baldaufs! We were celebrating about three weeks of missed birthdays: Mary Pat's, Rick's, Scott Elliott's and John Douglas Elliotts. The evening was mass chaos, so we really didn't get many pictures. Scott said that Alice gave him his favorite gift - Budweiser in aluminum bottles.

Here is a picture of Mary Pat, Beth and Frances Anne Elliott, all sporting the same shirts. The shirts say good witches, but Frannie said that Mary Pat's could've said bad witch.

Frances Anne was working on a school science fair project and needed everyone's fingerprints. Mary Pat has a double loop and whirl, which sounds quite spunky!

When the Blogger Girls left, everyone was just getting riled up talking sports and politics, but it was a school night for us, so we slipped on home.

Alice and Crew Visit Hendersonville

Last Saturday, Alice, Shorti, Rick and Beth drove to Hendersonville for the day. We all met at Starbucks for a little get up and go, and then the crew headed out! Mary Pat stayed behind because she had some work to do, but it sounds like she missed a good time.

Finally, they made it to the Dish Barn. Sister tried to get a few creative shots of Alice without her knowing. (If she knows, she poses, usually without a smile!) Here are her best shots. First, Alice through the glasses, looking. (Get it, Alice in Wonderland, Alice through the looking glass!)

This is part of Alice in the Tiffany lamps. The best thing is that she looks like a Tiffany lamp! Well, her shirt does anyway.

GOTCHA! Alice caught in the Fiestaware! Look at the look on her face! She was up to something and didn't want anyone to know!!

After the Dish Barn, the crew went to Mast General Store, Bon Worth (which is the home of all Bon Worth's) and Belk. (The girls come by their shopping obesession honestly. Ahem, from Alice!)

From the looks of this picture, neither Shorti or Alice has seen a Belk before. They both look so enthralled!!!

Last stop on the way home, McDonalds, for a healthy and leisurely dinner. Rick did find a TV with a news network on it, so he was happy! (Especially with his two favorite people on screen - Bush and McCain!)

Alice's Dog, Lucy

You've heard us talk about "Alice's" dog, Lucy - here is a picture. All her life, Alice has been allergic to dogs, but Lucy has really won her over, allergies or not! (It may have SOMETHING to do with all of the table scraps Alice gives her - ha ha!)
